c.200 B.C. to A.D.200. A nicely detailed Pre-Colombian South American terracotta head from Colima, Mexico. Collected in Mexico the 1960s and from an old West Country collection. Nicely hand modelled with clear facial details, ear spools and high head dress. The head was originally part of a small votive figurine and possibly once placed in a small home shrine or place of worship. This bust segment is in very nice condition with good surfaces and bold detail, a pleasant example, 42mm tall x 32mm wide x 18mm deep.
