c.200 B.C. to A.D.200. A nicely detailed Pre-colombian South American terracotta head / bust from Colima, Mexico. Collected in Mexico the 1960s and from an old West Country collection. Nicely hand modelled with applied detail of head dress, ear spools and necklace with other facial details impressed with a tool. The head was originally part of a small votive figurine and possibly once placed in a small home shrine or place of worship. This partial figure is in very nice condition with good surfaces and bold detail, a pleasant example, 44mm tall x 32mm wide x 19mm deep.
