c.3000 B.C. A nicely worked Neolithic flint awl found near Swaffham, Norfolk and from an old Norfolk collection. The awl is  fashioned from an attractive white/pale grey coloured flint pleasant light/dark grey flint with small collection number inked on one side. A nicely defined flint tool and well worked to form sharp and functional points for pierecing animal hide or boring wooden items. Excellent surfaces with attractive surface ageing and patination with subtle iron oxide highlights in parts, a nice example of the type, 70mm long x 22mm wide x 17mm at thickest.
