c.1st/2nd Century A.D. A pair of extremely rare Romano-Egyptian Polychromatic"Mosaic" Glass fragments unearthed in Egypt many years ago and from a Northamptonshire collection. Romano-Egyptian "Mosaic" glass was highly prized in Roman-Egyptian society and was generally reserved for the highest quality glass vessels as it was time consuming and no doubt costly to produce. There is a smaller fragment of yellow, black and turquoise banded glass measuring approx. 18mm x 15mm, the other a much larger fragment featuring a most attractive banded design in green, blue, white and black glass measuring approx. 29mm x 38mm and possibly from a high quality drinking vessel. Mosaic glass is extremely rare and fragments can often command quite high prices so take this opportunity to add a couple of fine fragments to your own collection for a very modest price.
