c.1st/2nd Century A.D. A pair of extremely rare Romano-Egyptian Polychromatic"Mosaic" Glass fragments unearthed in Egypt many years ago and from a Northamptonshire collection. Romano-Egyptian "Mosaic" glass was highly prized in Roman-Egyptian society and was generally reserved for only the highest quality glass vessels as it was time consuming and no doubt costly to produce. There is a smaller fragment of yellow and black banded glass measuring approx. 17mm x 14mm, the other a much larger fragment featuring a most attractive random mosaic design in green, blue, red, white and black glass measuring approx. 28mm x 23mm and possibly from a high quality drinking vessel or small vase. Mosaic glass is extremely rare and fragments can often command quite high prices so take this opportunity to add a couple of fine fragments to your own collection for a very modest price.
