Jurassic period c.201 to 145 million years ago. A good, large pair of fossilised vertebrae from an Icthyosaur, a marine reptile vaguely similar in appearance to a very large dolphin but with huge eyes, vertically orientated tail fin. These vertebrae were excavated (in close proximity to one another) in Whitby, North Yorkshire in the early 20th Century and hail from an old Yorkshire private collection. Each c.70-80 mm in diameter x 35-40mm thick.
