Product Description

c.9th/10th Century A.D. A partial Viking bronze Stirrup mount featuring the embossed design of two Dragonseque creatures facing each other, either side of a Tree of life. The mount was found in the foreshore of the River Thames, London and hails from an old collection of Thames finds amassed in the 1990's. The upper half of the stirrup mount lost in antiquity, but this lower decorative segment is in very nice condition with clear detail and possesses an attractive shiny bronze toning synonymous with items found buried in the Thames silts. An affordable and interesting Viking artefact, 34mm wide x 20mm high x 7mm deep.
