c.4000-3000 B.C. A large, well worked and excellent Neolithic flint fabricator found many years back in Lakenheath, Suffolk and from a Cornish collection. Fashioned from a most attractive mottled white, blue and grey coloured flint. Extensively worked all over and featuring a distinct and thicker handle end and a finer functional point end. Fabricators, as the name suggests were all purpose gouging, boring, flaking, cutting tools used to manufacture other items from various materials, possibly even for retouching the blade edges of smaller flint tools. This example is totally intact and in lovely condition with a most attractive colouration, good surface ageing and a pleasant shiny patina with some iron oxide highlights, a particularly large and attractive example of the type from a noteable Location, approx 132mm long x 28mm at widest x 27mm at thickest.
