Ptolemaic period c.300 - 100 B.C. A pleasant Ancient Egyptian green glazed Faïence "Heart" amulet. [The Heart amulet was worn by both the living and the deceased as a protective Talisman. To the Ancient Egyptians, the Heart was believed to be the seat of the soul and these amulets were worn to prevent evil forces from bewitching the soul from the body]. The amulet takes the form of a slightly stylistic Human heart pierced top to bottom for suspension and wearing. The amulet is totally complete, in very good undamaged condition with an attractive colour, supplied in a display box, amulet 12mm wide x 11mm high x 8mm thick.
