Hellenistic Period c.3rd/2nd Century B.C. A pleasant Ancient Greek terracotta "Spindle Flask" (Perfumed oil bottle) found in Central Greece many years back and from a Norfolk collection. Of typical form featuring a small flat base, slender stem widening to a bulbous body and then narrowing again to form a long slender neck topped with a small out turned rim. These elegant little flasks would have once contained perfumed oils which would have been extracted and applied using a long thin bronze spatula. A couple of small old knocks to one side of rim and to edge of base (not detracting however) otherwise totally intact and in very good overall condition, a pleasant example of the type, 132mm tall x 27mm diameter at widest.
