c.3rd / 4th Century A.D. A pleasant and ornate Roman bronze nail cleaner from a portable cosmetic set or chatelain, found in the Central Midlands. This nail cleaner has an inscribed "X" design on either side with a line running down the main body and suspension loop at top. It would have been one of several bronze cosmetic tools attached to a single hoop and either carried or attached to and worn on a chain from the waist, in the form of a chatelain. A decent and still functional Roman item with a pleasant shiny dark patina, 50mm long x 10mm wide.
