c.6th/7th Century A.D. A large, excellent and robust Early Anglo Saxon bronze buckle found in Oxfordshire and from an old Oxfordshire collection. A thick elongate oval shaped main hoop with a thick tapering hinged pin with down-turned point. Probably once silvered or gilded but now just bronze with an overall dark green patination. Totally intact and in good sound overall condition with decent surfaces, a pleasant and good sized Early Saxon buckle, hoop 26mm wide x 16mm deep, depth over pin 20mm, hoop approximately 5mm thick.
