c.6th/7th Century A.D. A pleasant Early Anglo Saxon bronze buckle found in Norfolk some years back and from a Norfolk collection. Of simple ovate form as typical for the period but with terminals in the form of fishes heads with mouths gaping, their lower jaws extended and joined to form the pivot for the iron pin (now missing). 18mm x 17mm. Some wear to surfaces comensurate with its age but otherwise in good condition with a pleasant overall dark patina, a pleasant and unusual Saxon artefacts.
