Hoxnian Interglacial period (MIS 11-10) c.424,000 to 374,000 years old. A pleasant Lower Paleolithic Pointed flint hand axe found many years back at the famous Prehistoric site of Hoxne, Suffolk (a site that gave the name to the Hoxnian Interglacial period) and from an old Norfolk collection. Fashioned from a large flake of dark grey / black coloured flint, Bi-facially worked, well worked on the upper side to form distinct chopping blade edges and a functional point. Pebble cortex still in situ on butt of worked side to aide grip in the hand. Intact and in very good condition for its great age with a good old collection patina, a decent example of this Palaeolithic hand tool and from a very notable prehistoric site. 104mm long x 68mm wide x 30mm thick
