c.60,000-40,000 B.C. A pleasant Paleolithic (Neanderthal) scraper tool found in the early part of the 20th Century at the famous Neanderthal site of Peyzac Le Moustier, in the Dordogne, France and from an old French lithic collection. A chunky and tactile tool with a largely flat underside, and upper worked to form a well defined scraping / cutting edge, small area of pebble cortex remaining on part of upper side to aide grip in the hand. Old ink inscription on one side citing "LES FERELIES PAZAC". Totally intact and in lovely condition with an attractive old collection patina, a nice example of its type, 55mm long x 58mm wide x 30mm thick
