c.2nd Century A.D. A pleasant Roman bronze Lozenge shaped "Umbonate" plate brooch found in Norfolk and from an old Norfolk collection. An unusual design with the main lozenge shaped body surmounted by a central domed feature much like a shield boss with punched pellets at 3,6,9 & 12 o'clock. Probably once gilded or silvered but now green patinated bronze. Tiny bend to catch-plate hinge end of brooch plus part of hinge, catch-plate and iron pin missing as is often the case otherwise intact and in good overall condition, a reasonable example of the type, 34mm long x 28mm wide x 10mm deep
