c.3rd / 4th Century A.D. A pleasant Roman bronze nail cleaner from a portable cosmetic set or chatelain, found in the Midlands and from a Nottinghamshire collection. This nail cleaner is of fairly simple design with two pairs of engraved lines either side, on neck just below suspension loop. It would have been one of several small bronze cosmetic tools attached to a single hoop and either carried or attached to and worn on a chain from the waist, in the form of a Chatelain. Totally intact and in very good condition, a still functional Roman item with a pleasant light green olive patina, 46mm long x 7mm wide.
