SOLD
c.2nd Century A.D. A pleasant Roman bronze oval plate brooch found in Cambridgeshire. The brooch is of oval form with and outer raised rim and a smaller raised oval within, both of which would once have had an infill of coloured enamel or glass, now sadly lost as is usual for these brooches. Catchplate and pin hinge on reverse, pin missing otherwise intact and in good overall condition with a light green surface patination, a pleasant example of the type however, 28mm x 22mm.
