c.1st Century A.D. A pleasant and steeply arched Roman bronze "Dolphin" fibula brooch found in the West Midlands some years back and from a Northamptonshire collection. A thick and robust example with a steeply arched tapering bow, a wide spring enclosure at top decorated with inscised diagonal lines. Probably once gilded or silverd but now just down to the bronze with a pleasant overall shiny dark green patina. Pin, spring and catchplate missing otherwise intact and in nice overall condition, a pleasant example of the type, 43mm long x 37mm wide x 20mm deep.
