Product Description
c.900-950 A.D. A pleasant Viking bronze "Openwork" stirrup hoop suspension mount found some years back in West Hall, Lincolnshire and from a Lincolnshire collection. Of thick and sturdy construction this carved open work mount would have once been riveted to the top of a Viking horseman's iron stirrup loop (ferrous traces of this remain on one end); the other end would have in turn been riveted to a thick leather strap and connected to a saddle assembly. Totally intact and in very good condition, of good metal with a pleasant shiny olive green patination, a pleasant example of the type, 33mm high x 27mm wide.
