SOLD

c.4000-3000 B.C. A pleasantly worked Neolithic "Laurel leaf" shaped flint unifacial arrow head found in the early 20th Century in Auge, Normandy, Northern France and from an old French collection. Worked from a elongate Laurel leaf shaped flint flake of a pleasant mottled brownish flint, flat underside but well worked on upper side to form a distinct and functional flint point with still sharp edges. Old inked inscription on upper surface citing "AUGE". A minute old knock to the very tip and possibly a small tang missing at base (neither detracting) otherwise intact and in very nice condition with an old shiny patina to worked surfaces, a pleasant and reasonable example of the type, 36mm long x 11mm at widest
