A rare and excellent framed parchment tenancy document from the reign of Elizabeth I, dated 1576 from an old Northern Irish collection. The document has been written in a good hand in both Latin and "Olde English" as befits legal documents of the time. The document is a "Surrender and Admission of a copyhold tenancy" of land in Sterndale, in the Parish of Hartingdon, Derbyshire from the original tenant John Burgh, with the document then signed at the bottom by the new tenant, Rycharde Lake. A fine early parchment document and very nicely presented for display in a large contemporary glass fronted frame for hanging on a wall, document measures 300mm wide x 87mm deep, frame measures 430mm x 325mm
