SOLD
c.1st Century B.C. to 1st Century A.D. A rare and unusual Iron Age (Celtic) terracotta flask with suspension holes found in Southern Germany many years back and from a German collection. An unusual flask with a flat base, wide bulbous body tapering to a short narrow neck and two pierced holes either side of neck presumably for suspending from a cord. The exact use of the flask is unclear but it may possibly once have been used for holding or carrying some form of medicinal potion maybe. A tiny old knock to inside of rim otherwise totally intact and in very good condition with stable surfaces with just some very minor accretion from its time buried in the earth. An unusual and appealing Iron Age vessel, 83mm tall x 77mm diameter.
