c.1400 A.D. A rare and unusual Medieval bronze "Rampant Lion" pendant found near Durham. A solid cast bronze pendant of a lion rampant,rearing left with its tail curling upwards and contacting its mane, in-turn forming a suspension loop. Probably once silvered or gilded but now just down to its original bronze. Good metal and surfaces with a dark bronze tone with traces of light green patination in parts. Totally intact and in good condition. Could easily be fitted to a modern loop and chain and worn again if required. Supplied in a display box. A rare and interesting item, 28mm high x 19mm wide.
