SOLD
c.1600-1200 B.C. A rare small Bronze Age pot or cup of simple form excavated in Southern Germany many years back and from a West Country collection. It features a rounded base with gently tapering sides; obviously a handmade vessel of typical rough clay composition and fired in a hearth rather than later Kiln fired pottery which makes these Bronze Age vessels so rare as they seldom survive the ravages of time buried in the Earth. A few small chips and areas of roughness otherwise good and intact and a very reasonably priced example of the type. 68mm diameter x 56mm deep.
