c.8000-6000 B.C. A robust and pleasant Mesolithic flaked hand axe, dredged from the Solent close to Lymington, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Well fashioned from a most attractive honey coloured flint with area or original pebble cortex remaining on one face. Some gentle water smoothing in parts and a lovely old surface ageing and shiny patination, a good sized, tactile and appealing Mesolithic hand axe, 130m long x 52mm wide x 45mm thick
