SOLD
c.13th Century A.D. A scarce and unusual Medieval miniature lead bowl excavated on a known Medieval site in Nottinghamshire. This small cast lead bowl is of fairly heavy and robust form for its size with a castellated rim. The exact use for this small vessel is unclear but may have been intended for some form of votive use / for deposition, an intriguing item nonetheless. A few minor knocks from its time buried in the earth otherwise intact and in very good overall condition for ancient lead with a good old surface patination, 38mm diameter x 12mm deep.
