c.7th/8th Century A.D. A scarce Anglo Saxon iron knife blade found on the foreshore of the River Thames, London in the 1990's and from a London collection of Thames finds. Of typical form with the blade wider at the top tapering to a fine blade edge and an elongate tang at the butt end for fitment into a wooden, bone or Antler handle. Small piece from tip lost in antiquity and possibly the reason why the knife was discarded originally, otherwise intact and in reasonable overall condition for ancient iron, a very reasonably priced example, overall length 147mm (blade 102mm) long x 18mm deep,
