A scarce, nicely framed and presented English Civil War period, Parliamentarian Army, Tax Receipt dated 20th August 1654 from an old Northern Irish collection. Written in a good hand on thick parchment and citing "August the 20th 1654....Rec(ieved) of Jonathan Man for Mr.Hale..nine pounds, six shillings for 3 months assessment from the 25 of June to the 29 day of September and is for the Army of Land and Sea. Re(cieve)d by me....Robert Harford...Collector". This document is a receipt from a wealthy land owner for 3 months tax to help support and fund Oliver Cromwells Parliamentarian Army. The document is in excellent condition and very nicely framed for presentation in a large dark wood effect frame which will free stand as well as hang on a wall, together with a portrait of Oliver Cromwell plus a full translation of the document below. A scarce and interesting piece of English Civil War period memorabilia, receipt measures 144mm wide x 44mm deep, frame measures 335mm tall x 249mm wide x 10mm thick
