c.4th Century B.C. A scarce, heavy and robust Iron Age "Upavon variant" bronze Equal ended fibula / brooch found some years back in Yorkshire and from an old Scottish collection. Of heavy and solid cast bronze manufacture, it features a central hollow cast dome with small oblong plates at top and bottom, one with the pin hinge on and the other a hooked catchplate. Some light surface pitting in parts (not detracting) and iron pin now gone otherwise totally intact with decent metal and in good overall condition with a pleasant dark patina. A good example of a seldom offered British Iron Age brooch, 40mm long x 20mm wide x 22mm deep
