SOLD
c.8th/9th Century A.D. A small Anglo Saxon iron knife found at Thetford, Norfolk. With a thick and straight back and a slender and gently curving blade edge below. The blade would have once had a elongate slender tang, mostly now lost but a small section remains complete with a tiny segment of wood from the original handle adhering. Pitting and corrosion to blade as is often the case with ancient iron but otherwise the knife is stable (blade had been treated with micro-crystalline wax to protect it). A scarce and affordable Saxon domestic item, 80mm long x 12mm high x 4mm thick.
