c.3000 B.C. A small but attractive and very nicely worked Neolithic flint hand axe found near Wimborne, Dorset and from a West country collection. Very nicely fashioned from a semi-transluent white, pale and dark grey flint, flat underside but very nicely worked on upper surface to form a distinct and functional semi-circular blade edge. Cortex remaining centrally on upper surface. Intact and in lovely condition with good ageing and an attractive shiny surface patination complimented with iron oxide highlights to percussion ridges. A very nice and appealing Neolithic hand tool, 69mm long x 53mm wide x 26mm thick.
