c.2nd-4th Century A.D. A small but pleasant Roman lead writing stylus found near Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Of compact form with a scribing point at one end and a flat spatula like end at the other for forming characters and symbols. Writing stylus's were used in conjunction with small wax coated wooden tablets to take notes on. Totally intact and in good condition for ancient lead, a pleasant example of the type, 48mm long.
