c.2500-2000 B.C. A small Neolithic pecked and ground hard stone axe found many years ago in the North African Sahara. The size of the axe and lack of any significant impact damage to blade suggests that this was probably a votive piece for deposition at a sacred site as an offering. Fashioned from a coarse white, pink and brown speckled granite like stone with a small stumpy main body, rounded butt and the blade face ground away on either side, a few minuscule knocks otherwise intact and in very good condition, a very affordable little Neolithic ground stone axe, 56mm long x 49mm wide x 28mm thick
