c.50,000-30,000 B.C. A small, but nicely worked and patinated Paleolithic, Neanderthal (Mousterian) flint hand axe found many years ago in central France and from a Kent collection. Fashioned from an attractive light grey/brown coloured flint, bi-facially worked with a thicker butt gripping section. The opposing end of the hand axe has been expertly flaked away on either side to form a clear and functional blade, still quite sharp to the touch. A nicely patinated, well aged and appealing Neanderthal flint tool, 70mm long x 48mm wide x 19mm at thickest.
