Ptolemaic period c.300 - 100 B.C. A small stylised Ancient Egyptian deep turquoise glazed faïence amulet of Ptah Sokar (Dwarf God). Ptah Sokar was often portrayed as a bow legged dwarf and was considered the god of craftsmen and architects whilst also serving additionally as a protective deity. Although this amulet is very stylised (as is common for later Egyptian amulets) Ptah is supposedly represented standing facing, bow leg, pot bellied and wearing a feathered headdress, piercing through neck for suspension. The amulets is totally complete, in very good condition with lovely radiant colour, supplied in a display box, 9mm high.
