Ptolemaic period c.300 - 100 B.C. A small stylised Ancient Egyptian pale green glazed faïence amulet of Sobek (Crocodile God). Sobek was also associated with Pharaonic power, fertility, and military prowess but also served additionally as a protective deity. Although this amulet is slightly stylised, Sobek is seen in the full form of a crocodile with head raised slightly (above the suspension piercing) with feint scale impressions along his sides also visible. Totally complete and in very good condition, supplied in a display box, 16mm long.
