c.3000 - 2500 B.C. A small but very nicely pecked and ground Neolithic stone axe with polished blade edges found in North Wales some years back and from an old Canadian private collection. Expertly fashioned from a hard coarse stone, very uniform and symmetrical throughout with the blade edges painstakingly polished on either face to strengthen the main cutting edge. This nice little axe would have once been hafted into a wooden handle for use and was most likely used for the shaping of wooden objects as opposed to the chopping down of trees. Two minuscule knocks to blade edge from use (not detracting) otherwise totally intact and in lovely overall condition, an appealing Neolithic axe, 82mm long x 43mm wide x 19mm thick.
