c.3000 B.C. A superb and rare Neolithic "Tanged" spear head found near Diss, Norfolk in the early 1960's and from an old Norfolk collection. A good sized piece, expertly fashioned from a semi-translucent brownish / grey coloured flint, very symmetrical with an elongate and triangulated body and a well defined robust tang at the base for insertion and hafting into a wooden shaft. Bi-facially worked with much retouching and pressure flaking around the edges to further define and sharpen the point, totally intact with still sharp edges and a good intact tip. A lovely example of the type with good old surface patination, rare to find a spear point with a large tang, 70mm long x 35mm wide x 5mm thick
