c.8th / 9th Century A.D. A very affordable lower grade Anglo Saxon bronze "Zoomorphic" strap end found in Oxfordshire and from a Northamptonshire collection. Although this particular example is worn, it would have once featured an engraved interlaced design on the upper surface and a small rodent-like zoomorphic head at its tip.Rivet holes at the butt end for fixing to a thin leather strap. A worn example with tiny chip to one rivet hole otherwise totally intact and a very cheap and collectable example of the type, 48mm long x 10mm wide.
