c.50,000 to 30,000 B.C. A very attractive Palleolithic Mousterian (Neanderthal) Discoid scraper / knife found many years ago in La Celle Saint Avant, France and from a Surrey collection. Expertly fashioned from a most attractive Honey coloured flint, bi-facially worked with central area of pebble cortex on one side which forms an effective grip, well worked around and retouched to form a good cutting and scraping blade all around its perimeter, intact and in very nice condition with lovely colour and surface patination, a nice Neanderthal flint tool, 68mm x 60mm x 23mm thick.
