c.2nd Century A.D. A very cheap and Rare, Roman redware terracotta "Erotic" Oil lamp found many years ago in Tunisia, North Africa and from an old Devon collection. This oil lamp is of typical form with a circular body and short but wide spout slightly blackened from use and an oil filler hole on the upper surface. The upper surface of the lamp features an Erotic scene of a woman bent over between two naked males. The lamp has some surface wear from its millennia buried in the sands, some surface roughness largely on the underside and a feint but stable crack around the rear of the lamp but otherwise lamp is intact and good plus the Erotic scene depicted can still be easily discerned. In fine condition Roman Erotic oil lamps can fetch very high prices so take this opportunity to obtain a very affordable example to add to your Roman collection.
