Third Intermediate Period c.912-745 B.C. A very large Ancient Egyptian green glazed Eye of Horus amulet found near Cairo in the early 20th Century and from an old Suffolk collection. Expertly moulded and well detailed with embossed detail of eye, brow and regal beard. Amulet attractively glazed in a deep turqoise green glaze with the pupil picked out in a black glaze. Amulet pierced laterally for suspension. Eye of Horus amulets were much favoured within Ancient Egyptian society as protective talisman. Tiny old knock to tip of beard otherwise totally intact and in very nice condition with good surfaces, glazing and colour, an attractive and large example of the type, 33mm x 25mm x 15mm
