SOLD

c.2500-2000 B.C. A large and extremely rare Neolithic ornately carved bone cloak pin from a Cornish private collection. Long and robust form with ornately carved "T" shaped head and centrally drilled hole for attachment to a suspension cord. Most likely used for fastening together an animal hide cloak or similar garment and the ability to fasten it to a cord attached to the garment would have helped prevent its loss. Originally excavated with a break below the head but expertly repaired to whole, otherwise intact and in excellent condition for ancient bone, a super and very rare Neolithic item, 142mm long x 10mm thickest diameter, 30mm across head.
