Late 2nd Century A.D. A very large and impressive Roman "Nar Valley" wheel turned decorated pot or urn found in the 1950's in Pentney, Norfolk and from an old Norfolk antiquarians collection. A small flat base widening to a squat bulbous body and narrowing again at top to a ribbed and mildly out turned rim with and incised band of decorative cross hatching around the shoulder of the pot. Excavated largely intact but with some plough damage evident, a couple of repairs to sections of the rim and an area of plough damage to one side only (doesn't really detract from the piece at all though and the pot still displays well) otherwise pot is intact and in good overall condition, rare to find a large and attractive Roman decorative pot in the U.K. [N.B. I will only ship this item to a U.K destination due to its size, weight and also to reduce likelihood of any further damage in long distance transit] - approx. 180mm diameter x 145mm high
