c.4000-3000 B.C. A very large Neolithic flaked stone axe found many years back in the Lake District, Cumbria U.K. and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Elongate oval in form and fashioned from a hard grey stone, bi-facially worked, nicely defined and of thin section. This large axe would have once been hafted into a large wooden handle for use and secured with natural resin and animal sinew. Totally intact and in very good condition overall, a very large, unusual and imposing example, 183mm long x 84mm wide x 20mm thick
