c.4th/3rd Century B.C. A very nice Mid-Iron Age (Celtic) "La Tene Type 1" bronze fibula brooch found in the Midlands and from a Staffordshire collection. Of typical form and skillfully crafted from a single piece of bronze with a bowed main body with a swept back foot with catchplate, the upper bow extruded and formed into an instgral coiled spring and pin; pin now lost but otherwise intact and in lovely condition with an attractive shiny dark green surface patination, a nice exmple of the type, 39mm long x 18mm wide, bow 5mm at thickest.
