c.3000 - 2500 B.C. A very nice, small but appealing Neolithic polished stone axe found in North Wales some years back and from an old Canadian private collection. Expertly fashioned from a very hard dark olive green stone with fine veins within it, very uniform and symmetrical throughout with well defined blade edges and  painstakingly polished all over its surface to both strengthen the axe. This lovely little axe would have once been hafted into a wooden handle for use and was most likely used for the shaping of wooden objects as opposed to the chopping down of trees. A couple of minuscule knocks to blade edge from use (not detracting) otherwise totally intact and in lovely overall condition, an appealing Neolithic axe, 82mm long x 44mm wide x 22mm thick.
