Magdalenian period c.17,000-12,000 B.C. A very nice Upper Palaeolithic, Magdalenian period flint hand sickle found in Cobeil on the Southern outskirts of Paris, France in 1972 and from an old French private collection. A well excecuted and definde flint implement formed from a large slightly convex flint flake struck from a core stone with a thicker gripping side and a fine and sharp gently curved main cutting blade. The tool grips nicely in the right hand would have most likley been used for cutting wheat, barley and similar ceral crops by hand. Old label remains stating "Outil: Magdalenian / Origine: Corbeil "Les Tarterets 1972". Totally intact and in lovely condition with good surface ageing and a pleasant overall white patination. A nice example of the type, 125mm long x 35mm wide x 17mm at thickest.
