About me

I have been interested in pre-history and history for as a long as I can remember. As a boy I loved Dinosaurs and would build many models of them to adorn the shelves around my bedroom. I also remember watching films such as "Jason and the Argonauts", dressing my "Action Man figure" in tin foil covered cardboard Greek armour and wondering exactly what it must have been like to live in those far off ancient worlds. Whilst never a one for fictional books, I could however sit for hours and study books about pre-historic life and ancient civilisations.

Whilst I also began collecting fossils from an early age, after finding a few in fields close to where I lived, it wasn't until a family friend gave me a collection of antique and ancient coins that my collecting interests really started. I loved holding an ancient coin in my hands and thinking about the stories it could tell, the fantastic ancient cities that it may have circulated in and wondering about who the people were that may have handled the coin thousands of years earlier. It wasn't long before I also bought some small antiquities to accompany my coin collection and this started my collecting in earnest.

In my late teens, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work in a local museum, helping with the cleaning, restoration and cataloguing of ancient objects and fossils; I found this most interesting and it helped further enrich my knowledge and understanding of ancient artefacts and long vanished civilisations.

As you can imagine, my interest and collection continued to grow over ensuing years, compounded by the fact that I was also lucky enough to be able to purchase several large old private collections as from estate sales many years back but the time has now come for me to down size my collection to  a more manageable level and find new homes for some of the items.

I should add, I am first and foremost a collector, not a dealer, and someone who is genuinely interested in the items and their history, not merely their financial worth.
